I went to a Vetco mobile clinic last year. My cat was only due for his rabies shot.

I asked for a one year because it's safer for cats. However, when I asked the girl specifically if it was a non-adjuvanted vaccine she told me yes. She completely lied to me. If she had told me that their one year and three year rabies vaccine is exactly the same just marked different on the paperwork, I would have known it wasn't a vaccine I would give to my cat.

I have contacted Vetco several times. First to find out if my cat truly received a "killed" three year rabies vaccine. This is when I was told it was the same vaccine. Then I contacted them again to see about changing his one year paperwork to three years since I needed proof of rabies (my cat bites) and I didn't want to over vaccinate him.

I was told that they would not change his paperwork after the fact and that if I had his medical records they could have made it a three year. I told the supervisor that I had all his medical records with me but she never asked for them. However, as I told the supervisor, their representative LIED to me. It's pretty bad when the consumer knows more about the vaccinations than the people involved in the process.

I was happy that they were able to give the shot to my cat since he's very volatile. The staff was organized and professional except one of the techs reeked of cigarettes and it was quite unpleasant. I didn't take my cat to a shot clinic to save money. I took him because even under sedation at the vet's office he will attack.

I was hoping a different environment might be more successful and it worked. Unfortunately, today I took my cat to get his yearly vaccinations that were due despite knowing I was over vaccinating him. I had no options due to renting and needing proof his rabies was current. However, I DID NOT take him back to Vetco nor would I ever.

I took him where they give the PureVax one year rabies which is the safest rabies vaccine available for cats. However, for the next 2 years I will be over vaccinating my cat thanks to the dishonesty and negligence of the Vetco Clinic. I would have walked away and went to plan B for his shots rather than risk giving my cat cancer. The supervisor told me they do care about the animals when I argued this point with her.

At which time I told her, no if they did they would offer the safer vaccine for cats. I don't care if it costs me more. My cat's life is worth it to me. I went to VIPPetcare mobile clinic and it may have cost me $66 for 2 vaccinations but it was successful with my volatile cat.

This is more than I had paid previously at his regular vet visits but it's about doing the right thing for my cat. Be aware of what they are actually giving your pet because you can't rely on their knowledge or honesty.

Reason of review: Unknowledgeable/Dishonest Staff.

Preferred solution: Better training for your staff so other animals aren't harmed. Stand by your services. There are numerous complaints out there about the 1 year/3 year rabies paperwork. Wish I had seen those beforehand. Offer safer vaccines. .
